The Edmonton Sr. B Warriors suffered their first loss of the season in Airdrie.
On Saturday (June 3), the Warriors were in Airdrie to take on one of their biggest rivals, the Rockyview Knights.
Up 2-1 after the first period, Rockyview came out strong in the second, scoring six unanswered. With a hefty lead, they eventually won 10-4.
Erik Turner had a hat-trick and Greg Bourret added the other goal.
"Offensively I think we're getting caught up (scoring goals), as opposed to let's make sure that we invest in our systems and the goals will be a result of us running our plays the way we want to run them," said Turner.
Lee Jackman was in net during the loss.
Sunday afternoon, Edmonton made the trip to Calgary to take on the Raiders; they won 7-5.
Greg Bourret scored the game winner with 3:53 remaining in the third period.
Brett Reynar, acquired in late May from St. Albert had another strong performance as he had a goal and two assists in the matinee.
"(Reynar's) a good acquisition for us because we were definitely a little shorthanded on the offensive side of the ball," added Turner. "He brings a skill set that's really valuable for us, really happy to have him here."
Goaltender John McMillan earned the win in net for the Warriors.
Next up will be the toughest game of the season as the 9-1 Warriors travel to St. Albert on Wednesday (June 7) to take on the undefeated Miner; game time is 8:00 p.m.
St. Albert is the defending national champions and have not lost a regular season game since July 3, 2015, when the Warriors defeated the Miners 14-13.
