The new lacrosse team in town brought another level of excitement to the Jubilee Recreation Centre (JRC) over the weekend.

The Edmonton Warriors started their season off in style with two big wins.

On Friday (May 5), the red army hit the road to Blackfalds and took down the Silverbacks, 10-6.

Saturday night the Warriors welcomed the Rockyview Knights to the JRC for their first home game in the Fort.

The battle did not disappoint as Edmonton came out flying en route to an 11-7 win.

Greg Bourret started the scoring, netting the first two and Matt Spadafora capitalized on a breakaway to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead after the first period.

Jordan Wheaton restored the two goal lead in the second period.

Drew Gingras went behind the back for a highlight reel goal shortly after and Bourret added two more to cap of the period with a 7-4 lead.

The Warriors weren't done scoring yet as Wheaton added a couple more to complete the hat trick.

Cam Ellingson and Dylan Johnston also got on the scoresheet.

Jon McMillan was outstanding in net as he helped Edmonton kill off seven of eight penalties.

The Senior Warriors' next contests will be Saturday (May 13) when they take on the Calgary Raiders at the JRC and Sunday (May 14) when they welcome the Calgary Mountaineers.
