Fort Saskatchewan will be treated to a whole new level of lacrosse this summer.

The Edmonton Senior B Warriors of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League have decided to pack up and move to the Jubilee Recreation Centre for the 2017 season.

Unable to work out a deal with the Bill Hunter Arena, the team hopes the change of scenery will bring in more fans.

"I think it will be a lot better in Fort Saskatchewan," said Darren Bourret, attacker with the Warriors. "What we got in Edmonton was not good."

The Warriors' first three picks in the 2017 draft were Tristan Rai (Lehigh University), defender Joe Fowler (Edmonton Blues Jr A) and attacker Simon Hansen.

Rai will be playing Senior A this season, but could be playing for the Warriors in the next few years.

Captain Greg Bourret led the team with 66 points last season in 16 games and Erik Turner, a Cornell University Big Red alumni, had 63 points in 15 games played.

John McMillan is returning between the pipes and Marc Bourret will be behind the bench once again.

The Warriors will play an 18 game schedule against teams from Airdrie, Calgary (x2), Beaumont, St Albert and Blackfalds.

Last season, Edmonton lost out in playoffs to the eventual national champions, the St. Albert Miners.

Preseason lacrosse gets underway Friday (April 7) night at the DCC with the battle of the Fort, featuring the Junior B Rebels taking on the Senior B Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
