The top athletes from Fort High and St John Paul II were acknowledged on Tuesday (May 30).
The Edmonton Metro Athletics All Star Luncheon took place at the Chateau Louise hotel, recognizing all of the award winners from the Capital Region.
Fort High had five recipients including division four volleyball coach of the year, Kim Sawatzky.
“This is the first award that I have received and im truly honoured to have it,” said Sawatzky.
Other recipients included Ashley Jonas (Div 4 basketball),  Ryan Chapman (football Gilifillan Conference), Chris Coombes (Div 3 volleyball) and Myah Grieve (Div 4 volleyball).
“It's fantastic, even the comradery between us, our students and the students from JP II that were recognized and Sarah Balla, their basketball coach, it's just really nice for the Fort to represented so well in such a big league,” added Sawatzky.
St John Paul II had three including Div 3 basketball coach of the year Sarah Balla, Gaddiel Kamuanya (Div 3 Basketball) and Kurt Sanchez (Div 3 Basketball).
High school athletics are winding down in the Fort but girls and boys volleyball spring camps will be getting underway this month.
