The success didn't stop with a provincial championship trophy.
Fort Saskatchewan Bantam AAA Rangers forward and provincial champion Rhett Melnyk added to his hardware collection, as he was recently named the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League's (AMBHL) Top Forward in the North.
"I obviously had a good team behind me, great linemates and I couldn't have done it without them," he said. "I definitely try to shape my game around working hard and playing a full 200 foot game."
In addition to being named top forward, Melnyk was second among league scorers with 74 points in 33 games.
"I think I really improved this year on the ability to finish my opportunities and scoring chances."
In playoffs, he added 20 points in 13 games.
Melnyk said that with the WHL draft coming up, the training won't stop over summer.
"Speed in today's game is a huge factor, so I'm definitely going to work on my stride and my shot with being accurate."
With a tremendous Bantam season in the books, Melnyk now joins Kirby Dach and Travis Dunstall as the only Rangers to win Top Forward in the North since 1990.
Since 2009, only Tyson Baillie, Jude Butler and Dach have finished in the top two in AMBHL scoring.
