Fort volleyball players are making an impact on the court.

Chris Coombs (Fort High) and Duncan Calef (Bev Facey), grade 11 students from Fort Sask, helped lead their club volleyball team to silver at nationals.

Both boys are in their first season of club volleyball with the FOG Black A team in Edmonton.

Coombs was starting middle on the team and Calef played outside power.

The season consisted of three Alberta Premier Tournaments, which determined the rankings for provincials and nationals (May 19-22).

There were 48 teams at nationals in Calgary, where FOG Black finished with a Silver in the U16B Division 1, Tier 3.

Assistant coach Ryan Teliske is also from the Fort. Teliske currently plays on the Concordia University's Volleyball team.

Next up for the FOG is super nationals. Typically nationals is split into west and east tournaments, but in 2018, Edmonton will be hosting all qualifying teams from Canada.
