Playoffs are slipping away from the Rebels.
The Fort Saskatchewan Junior B lacrosse team went shot-for-shot with the Edmonton Warriors, until late in the third.
After going down 4-0 early in the first, the Rebels went on a five goal run with help from Logan Bruce, Brayden Parker, Jack Marlow and Jack Snider.
The second period saw less scoring, but captain Will Flink was able to pick up a loose ball late and fire one into the empty net to tie the game up at 7-7.
In the third, the Fort once again got into penalty trouble. They were barely able to hang on to a 9-9 tie (goals from Ryan Wilson and Ethan Wong).
Later in the period, Edmonton proved to be too much, firing four past goaltender Zach Stabel.
Final score: Warriors 13, Rebels 9.
"We put a lot of effort into it tonight," said head coach Kevin Parker. "We had a couple mental breakdowns on defence, killed our momentum."
After that loss the Rebels are in a sticky situation. Sitting at a record of 3-13-1, they will have to win their next three games against St Albert, Edmonton and Sherwood Park just to have a shot at the postseason.
"We have to win," stated Parker.
Next up for the Rebels will be the St Albert Crude, Thursday night, 8:30 p.m. at the Akinsdale Arena.
