Faced with a tough preseason test, the Hawks wouldn’t crumble under pressure.
The Fort Saskatchewan Junior B Hawks were back at the JRC Tuesday (Sept.11) night to take on the Beverly Warriors.

Fort Sask jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes, but ended up allowing three unanswered in the second period, falling 3-1 against last year's Capital Junior Hockey League's runner-up.

“I thought our guys stepped their game up,” said head coach John Parfett. "We have a lot of rookies in the lineup and I thought they adjust fairly well to the pace as the game went on."

Matthew Bennett had the lone tally for the Hawks.

Beverly's forwards controlled the play for the majority of the game, outshooting the Fort 50-21.

“Some guys took their opportunity to get back at some things that happened last year in the playoffs so now we got that out of the way,” added Parfett. "There's definitely not a lot of love lost between the two teams."

Marco Fontes took the loss between the pipes making 47 saves.

Fort Saskatchewan will start the regular season on Friday (Sept.21) against the Beaumont Chiefs.
