It came down to the wire for the league title.

On Sunday (July 9), the Fort Saskatchewan U16 female Fusion soccer team defeated McLeod 3-2 for the league championship.

Battling from behind the whole game, Kyla Rae Smith scored to tie the game at 1-1 and 2-2.

"It was back and forth all the way," said coach Rob Hall.

In the final minutes, Chelsea Moon was able to find the back of the net on a header giving the fusion a 3-2 lead.

"Once we found we had a birth in the city finals, the girls just grasped it and ran with it. They just took it to another level, everyone played phenomenally," added Hall.
