A huge trade in the Western Hockey League has put two familiar faces on the same team.

The Saskatoon Blades announced on Wednesday (Jan.10) they've acquired Eric Florchuk from the Victoria Royals in exchange for two first round picks and a fourth round pick in 2018.

Fort Saskatchewan's Florchuk will be joining former Rangers' teammate (and local) Kirby Dach.

Florchuk has 28 points (7G-21A) through 43 games this season.

“Players of Eric’s quality who are in their draft year do not come available very often. We are extremely excited to add him to our emerging group and he will be a top-end talent for us to build around over the next three years,” said Blades' general manager Colin Priestner.

Florchuk just turned 18 and will be competing in the upcoming CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

He may make his debut Wednesday night against Medicine Hat.
