It's just one of many stepping stones in an early hockey career.
Fort Saskatchewan's own, Kirby Dach got the call to attend the Hockey Canada Under 17 development camp in July.
Camp will take place from July 22-28 in Calgary. After that, three teams will be chosen to represent Canada at the World Under 17 Challenge in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, from November 5-11.
"It's a pretty good feeling, this program is such an honour to be a part of," said Dach."It's something as a young Canadian boy I've always wanted to represent the maple leaf,"
Four players from Sherwood Park will also be attending camp, Jake Lee, Matthew Robertson, Ethan Browne and Carter Chorney.
After being granted exceptional player status for the Western Hockey League, Dach managed to put up 10 points in 19 games with the Saskatoon Blades.
