It came down to the wire Monday night (Oct.29) at St André Bessett (SAB).

With a spot in the semifinals on the line, the Cardinal senior girls faced a tough test in the JH Picard Pumas.

SAB came out firing to take the first set 25-21, before not being able to close out the second set and dropping that one 27-25.

“We started to wonder if we would win the game and as soon as we started to wonder things started to go downhill from there,” said assistant coach Cameron Keats.

The Cardinals would yet again grab the lead with a 25-17 third set win. But the gritty Pumas battled back, dominating the fourth set 25-15.

In the fifth and final set, JH Picard proved to be too much, taking the set 15-9.

“We started off really strong and then the wheels kind of fell off in the last two sets,” added Keats.

JH Picard will now face either Eastglen or Christ the King in the Division 4 semifinals on Wednesday.
