Fort Saskatchewan faced two tough opponents to start the Western Canadian Bantam Championship.
 
After winning provincials, the Bantam AAA Rangers had two games on their opening day.
 
In game one, the Rangers shutout the Swift Current Broncos, 5-0.
 
Raphael Pelletier started the scoring just over half way through the first period and added another five minutes later to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead.
 
Noah Boyko and Alex Thacker added goals in the second period, Olen Zellweger added an insurance marker in the third.
 
Sebastian Cossa was perfect in net, making 29 saves.
 
Next, Fort Saskatchewan battled the host Sask Valley Tigers, who were hungry for vengeance after being swept in their league finals.
 
After leading 2-0, the Rangers fell 5-3. Pelletier, Boyko and Ryley Pouliot scored for the Rangers.
 
Sask Valley's top player Josh Pillar scored a hat-trick in the win.
 
Cossa made 24 saves in the loss.
 
Fort Saskatchewan's next game goes Friday (Mar. 31) at 5:00 p.m. vs Burnaby Winter Club.
