A local teen is the best tenth grade archer in Canada.

Ardrossan Jr/Sr high student River Hoffos earned first place (out of 75 grade ten male competitors) at the National Archery in the Schools Program held in Edmonton.

Scoring 280/300, Hoffos also finished eighth for all high school boys.

“Archery has always been a part of me, but I finally had an outlet,” said Hoffos.

Hoffos has been shooting bows as long as he can remember, he aspires to be like his two brothers and dad, who all bow hunt.

The national competition saw 80 schools from across Canada represented, including other Elk Island Public Schools students from Andrew School and Fort Saskatchewan Christian.
