Local athletes were well represented at the Running Room Indoor Games.
Ryder Horton, a grade 11 student from Ardrossan High School, won gold in the 800 metre dash.
The event was full of students from the capital region, who all converged at the University of Alberta Butterdome for the meet.
In the final heat, Horton finished with a time of 1:56:33, just short of his personal best (1:56:09).
"Outdoor is way easier than indoor, the straights aren't as long in indoor and the corners are way tighter," said Horton.
Horton trains with a club in St. Albert weekly and hopes to earn a scholarship in track and field after high-school.
His next event is a track meet in Los Angeles, California on April 7 and 8.
