There are a few events to keep tabs on in Sturgeon County.

The Gibbons and area Easter Egg Hunt will go on Saturday and is hosted by the Sturgeon River Agricultural Society. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include balloon animals, face painting, and plenty of raffle prizes and games. Each kid attending will also be entered to win one of 25 stuffed Easter baskets.

An Easter Eggstravaganza will be hosted in Cardiff Park on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with Easter egg hunting and crafts. They are also encouraging people to get a picture with a giant Easter egg to be entered into a prize draw.

If you are looking to spend some time in the big city this weekend, here are a few notable happenings.

The Edmonton Downtown Defrost event kicks off today and will run until Sunday. Tiga will be headlining along with a slew of other musicians in the family-friendly dance celebration.

The Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday for shopping and Easter events.

Outside of all the Easter events going on, there are also a few things most communities can enjoy.

For one, the highly anticipated Super Mario Bros. movie opened up in theatres this week and is sure to be the perfect family flick for the long weekend.

Also, you might want to consider firing up the grill if the warm temperatures are to be believed. Sunday could see temperatures in the mid-to-high teens.
