The latest COVID-19 update has been provided.
 
The province identified 656 new cases of the virus on Friday (Oct.22). Currently, 889 people are in the hospital, and 191 are in intensive care. There are 10,037 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.  
  
12 deaths from COVID-19 were reported in our province, bringing the total to 3,026 since the start of the pandemic.  
   
Local update   
   
The first number is the active case count on Thursday (Oct.21) for the area, and the second is the updated total as of Friday:   
- Fort Saskatchewan: 67 cases - 66 cases   
- Sherwood Park: 101 cases - 93 cases   
- Strathcona County: 35 cases - 36 cases   
- Sturgeon County: 81 cases - 75 cases   
- Morinville: 69 cases - 67 cases   
- Lamont County: 18 cases - 15 cases

Vaccinations   
    
 The total per cent of people fully immunized with the vaccine as of Friday:   
- Fort Saskatchewan: 66.2 per cent   
- Sherwood Park: 75.5 per cent   
- Strathcona County: 69.8 per cent   
- Sturgeon County West (including Morinville): 62.7 per cent   
- Sturgeon County East: 62.7 per cent   
- Lamont County: 59 per cent   
    
A total of 6.42-million doses of the vaccine have now been administered in the province; 86.4 per cent of the eligible population have received at least one dose, while 78.3 per cent are fully vaccinated.
