A traffic stop by the Redwater RCMP turned into much more.
In mid-March, at around 4 a.m., an officer pulled a truck over outside Redwater and realised the driver had a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested, and the officer let him call a friend to pick up the truck from the road.
When the woman arrived to get the vehicle, she gave a name to the officer, which they quickly determined was false. She was also arrested, and further investigation revealed that according to the man's release conditions for an unrelated matter, he was not allowed to have contact with the woman.
Police then searched the vehicle and found two knives, drug paraphernalia, 1.5 grams of suspected heroin, 123 grams of suspected meth and 71.8 grams of suspected cocaine.
Matthew Jordan, 39, from Boyle, was charged with failing to comply with a condition or a release order and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Laura Cruise, 44, from Boyle, was charged with obstruction.
