Looking to get rid of some extra waste?

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is hosting its annual Toxic Round-Up event on Saturday (Sept.25) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents will have an opportunity to drop off hazardous waste and electronics at the Public Works Yard, where they will be disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

"This is a great opportunity for people to clear out their garage and bring in any hazardous materials that they want to properly dispose of," said Sadie Miller, waste program supervisor.

Examples of hazardous materials accepted for drop-off include certain cleaners, paint thinners, fertilizer, pesticides, used motor oil, car batteries and health care products. A full list can be found here.

The event is limited to households only; the city will not accept hazardous materials from businesses.

There is no limit to how much material locals can bring.
