The Town of Gibbons is considering options into changing the way a Mayor is selected in upcoming elections. The proposed change would involve seven Councillors being elected, then the Mayor would be appointed by those seven Councillors. The appointment would take place at the organizational meeting after the election, and remain in effect until the next organizational meeting.
A Public Hearing will be hosted by the Town on Wednesday, October 14th, 6:30 pm at the Pembina Lounge Room in the Gibbons Cultural Centre. This will provide the citizens of Gibbons an opportunity to learn more about the proposal, or to voice concerns regarding this proposed change.
