Three hockey players from the area will be representing Team Canada.

Fort Saskatchewan’s Olen Zellweger, Sherwood Park’s Kaiden Guhle and former Fort Saskatchewan Rangers’ goalie Sebastian Cossa were all picked to join the Canadians at the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championships.

Guhle is one of three players returning from last year.

Team Canada took home silver in the 2021 championships — losing to the United States in the gold medal game.

Six of the 25 players on the roster are from Alberta. The other three Albertans are Dylan Guenther (Edmonton), Jake Neighbours (Airdrie) and Ronan Seeley (Olds).

Canada’s first game is on Boxing Day (Dec.26) against the Czech Republic at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
