The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP arrested and handed out ten charges to 23 year old James Toma from Gibbons after a shots fired report last Wednesday.

Police responded at around 11:30pm on March 23rd in the area of Galloway Wynd, just northeast of the Dow Centennial Centre.

Officers further investigated after initially locating the man who did not appear to be involved.

The RCMP say when they caught Toma after he fled on foot, the struggle went to the ground where James screamed several times he had a gun.

Police recovered a handgun from his pants.

Toma was in custody until today (March 31st, 2016) as he chose to not speak to bail.

He was charged with the following offences:

-Section 145(5.1) - Fail to Comply with Undertaking
-Section 129(A) - Resist Arrest
-Section 90(1) - Carry a Concealed Weapon
-Section 88(1) - Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
-Section 91(1) - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
-Section 86(1) - Careless Use of Firearm
-Section 108(1)(A) - Deface/Remove Serial Number on a Firearm
-Section 354(1) - Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000.00
-Section 270(1)(B) - Assault Peace Officer with Intent to Resist
-Section 92(2) - Possession of a Prohibited Firearm
