On May 14, the Strathcona County RCMP will host a “kids bicycle rodeo and safety fair” at the Strathcona County Athletic Park in Sherwood Park. The event is part of National Police Week, which runs from May 15 to 21.
The event will feature demonstrations of specialised RCMP units, and the RCMP helicopter will be on site. Mounties will also have retro police cars on display.
Enbridge will be at the event to provide a free barbeque, and other community safety partners will have displays and info booths.
The “bike rodeo” portion of the event will take place in the outdoor rink. It will include a bicycle inspection station administered by Mud Sweat and Gears, helmet fitting by Giro Helmets and a skills course for children administered by the RCMP members.
Additionally, two police dog demonstrations will occur in the track and field area, one at noon and the other at 2 p.m.
The free event will run from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 1101 Clover Bar Road.
