An open house in celebration of Strathcona County's Family and Community Services, who is marking 40 years, will be held on Wednesday, November 4th from 4pm until 7pm, 2nd floor, 501 Festival Avenue in Sherwood Park.

Residents can expect a themed evening, where games, food and fun will be integrated with information on how the programs and services have changed over the years.  The Strathcona County Youth Council members will also be on hand to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

Family and Community Services have grown over the years and have seen a name change, more programming and areas of support with their growth.  Currently, services such as counselling, family dynamics support,at risk situation support, snow and lawn busters are just a few of the example of support programming that is offered.   The base that the service unit works from is "to identify social need, build community capacity, increase community connections and increase social awareness of social issues."
