Tuesday morning (Jan.25) had a different bus schedule than usual.

Fort Transit buses announced they would operate on an hourly schedule in the mornings "until further notice." The buses usually run every half hour.

Afternoon services were not affected.

By the following day, the schedule was back to normal. Transit supervisor Stuart Gerber explained the disruption was because of a staffing shortage.

"We're enforcing the AHS and City of Fort Saskatchewan policies. No person is to return before the set waiting period is over and they are symptom-free. It's important to remind people that there is a bad flu bug going around this year as well in addition to COVID."

If there are issues again in the future, Fort Transit might go back to hourly operations. They will closely monitor the situation day-by-day and post any changes to social media.
