The Sherwood Park Crusaders have completed the southern portion of their three-day road trip, and while it didn’t start the way they would have liked, they managed to finish on a high note.
On Friday, the Crusaders played the Brooks Bandits and lost 6-0. Bandits' forward Dario Beljo opened the scoring 2:49 into the first period, followed by another goal 57 seconds later. Goaltender Gus Bylin made 29 saves during the game.
The Crusaders travelled to Drumheller on Saturday, where they had a better outcome against the Dragons. Ashton McNelly opened the scoring in the first to give Sherwood Park an early lead. The Dragons responded just 50 seconds into the second on a power play with a goal from Myles Hilman, but Sherwood Park regained the lead when Cale Ashcroft scored on a power play for the ‘Cru.
Bode Hagan scored on an empty net in the third period resulting in a 4-1 victory for the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
Sherwood Park now heads to Lloydminster Wednesday (Dec.15) for the final game of their three-day road trip. They’ll host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on Friday for the last home game before the Christmas Break.
