A snowfall warning is now in place for the region.

Environment Canada says heavy snowfall is in store for many areas of central and eastern Alberta over the next 48 hours.

The weather agency predicts about 2-4 cm of snow throughout the day on Monday (Nov.15). An additional 10-15 cm is expected overnight on Monday and into Tuesday.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

The snowfall warning is in effect for Fort Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Strathcona County, Sturgeon County, Lamont County, Lamont, Bruderheim, Gibbons, Bon Accord, Redwater and Morinville.
