Fort Saskatchewan's Kelsey Rocque won one and lost one during the opening day at the Canada Cup of Curling in Grande Prairie.

At the opening draw this morning, Kelsey Rocque made a last-rock takeout in the 10th end for a deuce and a 7-6 win over Winnipeg's Kristy McDonald.

Facing Saskatchewan's Sherry Middaugh in the afternoon, Rocque gave up one in both the 2nd and 3rd ends, put up 2 in the 4th, and got one in the 5th, then gave up 2 in the 6th end, but roared back in the 7th with 2 but gave up 2 in the 9th and one in the 10th for a 7-5 loss.

Next up for Rocque is an afternoon match against Ontario's Rachel Homan tomorrow.

The tournament winners will qualify for 2018 Winter Games trials.
