More people and more donations made for a successful Right From the Roots festival.

Joe Nolan, Jenny Thai and Boogie Patrol performed at the Shell Theatre earlier this month to raise money for the Fort Saskatchewan Families First Society (FSFFS).

In total, the show and evening brought in $8900 for the not-for-profit organization. A dragon fire pit donated by PSI Industrial Mechanical raised an additional $3200.

"It is really good. Not only have we raised that much money, but hopefully the buzz continues into next year," said Kim Heatherington, program manager for FSFFS.

The money will be going towards helping fill in gaps in the budget and funding other programs instead of relying on grants.

Attendance increased from 100 attendees in 2016 to 138 in 2017.
