Fort Saskatchewan along with Lamont and Sturgeon County residents are invited to come and celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Fort Saskatchewan RCMP & Municipal Enforcement Building this Saturday, October 3rd, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The new building is home to not only the RCMP, but the Fort Saskatchewan Municipal Enforcement and Victim Services.
The grand opening ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. with a flag raising, followed by speeches, blessing and ribbon cutting. After the ceremony is complete, there will be an open house where guided tours of the detachment, along with demonstrations and displays from the following RCMP sections or partners including Air Services Helicopter, Forensic Identification Section, Police Dog Services, Explosives Disposal Unit, Aboriginal Policing, Integrated Traffic Unit, Community Policing, Municipal Enforcement, Policing Committee, Citizens on Patrol, Families First and YEILD Group.
RCMP `K` Division Commanding Officer, Deputy Commissioner Marianne Ryan, along with Mayor Gale Katchur as well as other dignitaries will be in attendance. Running alongside RCMP will also be holding a recruiting session in the Community Meeting Room, following the event at 4:00 p.m, for those interested in a career in with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. As parking will be limited those attending are encouraged to either walk, or to park at the Dow Centennial Center. The new detachment is located ay 200 Town Crest Road, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
