Local charities are receiving donations from Elk Island Public Schools this Christmas season.

Board Chair Trina Boymook says Schools have been busy collecting food items, presents and clothing like outerwear and socks including for babies.

Charitable efforts include the food hampers collection at Fort High, the Stollery Fundraiser at Fort Saskatchewan Christian and Win Ferguson's collection for Families First.

Bruderheim School is holding their Mitten Tree for the Bissell Centre and Mustard Seed, while Lamont Elementary held a Food Bank Toy Drive during their Christmas concert.
