There was a heavier than usual police presence around Bruderhiem earlier this week.

On Monday (Nov.22), members of the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) tried to pull over a Dodge Journey around 117 Avenue and 50 Street. The vehicle fled, and officers did not pursue it.

Instead, EPS Air 1 followed the vehicle northeast of Edmonton, noting the vehicle was dropping off passengers along the way. By this point, the Town of Bruderheim had informed residents there were police in the area, but there was no threat to the public.

The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of Range Road 210 and Township Road 534 and from there, the driver fled on foot.

The EPS Canine Unit was called in, and the suspect was eventually found and taken into custody. The 23-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for minor injuries sustained during the arrest.

She is facing multiple charges, including the operation of a vehicle while prohibited.

No further information has been released.
