Freezing rain was causing chaos on roads across the region this morning (Jan. 13).

Highway 16 between Range Road 222 and 224 near Ardrossan was closed due to icy conditions and multiple vehicles in the ditch. The closure was reported to 511 Alberta just before 8 a.m.

Highway 28 was closed in both directions at Coronado Hill.

Several collisions were being reported including a multi-vehicle accident on east Anthony Henday Drive at Highway 16 just after 6 a.m., and a multi-vehicle collision was tying things up northbound Anthony Henday Drive at the Aurum Road off-ramp.

Drivers were experiencing delays at Highway 21 and Highway 14, due to a multi-vehicle collision.

There was also a flood of reports from drivers that southbound Highway 21 was backed up from Highway 16 into Fort Saskatchewan due to a stuck semi.

As of 2 p.m., all of the incidents mentioned above have cleared.
