More and more men are embracing the tradition of growing facial hair during the month of November, fondly referred to as Movember. All to bring awareness to men's health issues. Specifically, prostrate and testicular cancer as well as mental health awareness.
Friday night at the Bears Den, Jiffy lube, was host to an annual event in support of the cause. Jim Martin, owner of Jiffy Lube and organizer of the event was thrilled with the turn out for the event, spreading the word about Movember and raising some money while having some fun. He says their passion for this runs deep and he was just so pleased that people were coming out in support by taking a light approach to a serious issue. He couldn't say enough about sponsors, saying that the community amazes him continually with all the support for the many fundraising events. He admitted that there is a little fear of failure as there are so many fundraisers in the community but each time the community goes above and beyond his expectations with their support. The fabric of this community is really around each other.
He hopes that the event brings the awareness needed to get men to get themselves checked and for all the "mo-sisters" to encourage their "mo-bro's" to get checked as well.
Mix will have a number on the amount Jiffy lube was able to raise, when the information is available.
