Another nearby community is trying something new in their parks.

Beginning July 1, Morinville will be piloting an Alcohol in Parks Program. Strathcona County announced a similar program a few days earlier.

There have been three parks designated for the program: Heritage Lake picnic sites, Skyline Baseball Diamonds within the Skyline Park area and the Morinville Fish and Game pond.

Residents can consume alcohol between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. in these areas until Sept.6, provided they are legally allowed to drink.

Appropriate signage will be placed at all entrances and in the parks.

An evaluation of the program will be done, including collecting feedback from the community, once the pilot program is over.
