A mobile mammography unit will be making its way to Gibbons later this month.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) sent out a release on Monday (May 8) morning announcing that the service will be available in the town from May 25 to 27.
"A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer," said AHS in the release. "Early detection allows for a greater number of options for treatment and a better chance of survival."
The group most at risk of developing breast cancer are women aged 45 to 75.
The trailer will be set up at the Gibbons Cultural Centre.
