Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville's MLA says the Province's new royalty system will strike a balance.

Jessica Littlewood explains the system will have a greater share for Albertans and more transparency, while also maintaining our healthy energy industry.

The Province's new royalty system is looking to promote jobs and investment activity, while increasing revenue to Albertans over time.

Littlewood notes with high capital, labour and seasonal changes costs, the system will enable businesses to be competitive. MLA Littlewood adds the system gives the Province an opportunity to really incent companies to invest in technologies.  Littlewood points out the technologies will lower companies costs and bring more profits, but more importantly ensure factors to increase what goes to Albertans.  Littlewood adds "The royalty panel was created with people that were the best in their field."

Alberta's Industrial Heartland is very pleased with the results of the Province's royalty review.

Executive Director Neil Shelly notes one of the key recommendations the panel had was the Government make bold initiatives to seize more value out of our value added opportunities we have here. (in Alberta's Industrial Heartland)  "Specifically they identified what we thought were the true opportunities in the region, taking advantage of our abundant supplies of natural gas and natural gas liquids.  "As well looking at some new technologies and partial upgrading and innovative technologies."  Shelly adds their concern was if the Government waited too long, companies could invest in other regions.
