A scary situation befell an area community.
 
Monday (Dec.30) at around 1 p.m., the Redwater RCMP received a call of a suspicious man trespassing on a rural subdivision in the Thorhild area. During their search for the suspect, police received another call saying he had begun confronting several homeowners with a sawed off shotgun.
 
The suspect then stole a nearby vehicle and attempted to flee the scene.
 
RCMP members from neighboring detachments, air services, police dog services and EMS were deployed and the area was contained.
 
While trying to escape, the man crashed the stolen truck. He attempted to flee on foot and hid in a thick brush area, but was tracked by police dogs and officers before being arrested. The suspect had multiple warrants at the time of his arrest.
 
Brendon Threefingers, a 27-year-old from Edmonton, is facing nearly 40 charges including uttering threats, possession of a concealed weapon, breaking and entering, resisting arrest, breach of release orders and possession of stolen property both over and under $5,000.
