The Alberta Scotties wrapped up in Grande Prairie on Sunday, and while our local players won't be heading to Thunder Bay later this month, they had a strong showing at the bonspiel.
Laura Walker and her team out of Edmonton will be heading to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts which gets underway on Jan.28. In third place was Fort Saskatchewan's Kelsey Rocque, who finished the tournament with a 6-1 record. Rocque was undefeated until the semi-final, which resulted in a 10-7 win for Casey Scheidegger.
Team Crough, one of the youngest teams at the tournament, finished in sixth place after winning two games and losing five. Quinn Prodaniuk of Fort Saskatchewan plays third for Team Crough.
Other confirmed entrants for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts include Mackenzie Zacharias of Manitoba, Kerry Galusha from the Northwest Territories, Northern Ontario's Krista McCarville, Andrea Crawford from New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador's Sarah Hill, Christina Black from Nova Scotia, Brigitte MacPhail of Nunavut, Suzanne Birt of Prince Edward Island, Quebec's Laurie St-Georges and Yukon's Hailey Birnie.
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts takes place from Jan.28 until Feb.6 in Thunder Bay.
