The Strathcona County fire department had an eventful Monday (Dec.28).
At around 1:15 p.m., they were called to a fire near Township Road 512 and Range Road 225. Upon arrival, crews found a barn fully engulfed in flames.
In order to prevent the flames from spreading to other buildings on the property, firefighters initiated a defensive operation. They had the fire under control in less than an hour.
No people were injured; however, an unknown number of animals in the barn were killed in the incident.
The amount of damage done and the cause of the fire are still being investigated.
