Strathcona County residents will get a chance to rid their homes of some larger items.
Large item pickup is starting in the county. The first week, county staff will pick up items on Tuesday (Apr. 19) and Thursday during regular collection. Next week, they will pick up the items during regular collection on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Things that can be picked up include broken furniture, appliances, or other non-reusable large or heavy household items. Electronics like computers or microwaves are not accepted.
A maximum of two items can be collected from a household, and each cannot weigh more than 200 lbs.
For anything that would typically be found outdoors, like basketball nets or bikes, the county asks that residents put a note on it to identify that it is being disposed of.
Items should be put out on the curb by 7:30 a.m. on collection day. Houses with back alleys must have large items put out at the front of the property.
Lists of what can and cannot be picked up can be found here.
