Team Canada has named Kaiden Guhle as captain for the 2022 World Junior Hockey championships.

The 19-year-old defenceman and Sherwood Park native is a returning player after helping the team to a silver medal at the 2021 World Juniors in Edmonton.

Guhle was traded to the Edmonton Oil Kings in early December and was a first-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2020 NHL Draft.

He will be joined by other locals, Fort Saskatchewan’s Olen Zellweger and former Fort Saskatchewan Rangers’ goalie Sebastian Cossa who were all picked to represent Team Canada at the 2022 World Juniors.

The World Juniors will run from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Red Deer.
