Hundreds of warnings and a handful of tickets were handed out during the first major snow clearing event in Fort Saskatchewan.

The city gave 272 warnings, towed five vehicles and issued five tickets during the snow clearing from Nov.22 to Dec.3.

Municipal enforcement supervisor Sergeant Lee Hardman said while the number of cars still parked on streets wasn’t what they wanted to see, issuing tickets to residents wasn’t their top priority.

“We wanted to focus more on warnings this year with us coming so close to Christmas,” he explained.

However, as the winter season drags on, Hardman added more tickets could be handed out if cars aren’t being moved off the streets.
