Emergency crews were called to a fire in a Fort Saskatchewan neighbourhood.

At around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov.24), the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department responded to a house fire in Westpark, along Riverpark Drive.

Upon arrival, crews found a large fire in the attic of the house. According to the crew on scene, they started an offensive attack on the second floor and were able to get the flames under control in about an hour. Firefighters stayed on the scene for several hours after to monitor for hot spots.

Everyone in the house was able to get out safely and no one was hurt.

There was significant damage done to the house, though firefighters were able to save the structure and many of the inside contents.

One of the neighbouring houses suffered some heat damage but the flames didn't spread.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Strathcona County Emergency Services were also called in to assist in the incident.
