Since 2005, families have been embracing a Christmas tradition.

The Elf on the Shelf; a visiting elf from the North Pole who has been sent to your home to find out who has been naughty and whos been nice.

From the gingerbread house to the Christmas tree to downing a bottle of maple syrup in the fridge with Barbie, this Elf knows how to celebrate the season.

Our family never had the Christmas elf visit our home, and now that my kids are older, I guess there's no need (Santa knows us pretty well).

Props to the families that do embrace the tradition, though. The never-ending posts of what the Elf was up to the night before is the highlight reel accompanying my morning coffee.

Cheers to that little mischievous Elf and all his shenanigans this month.
