There were a large number of police officers in Ardrossan this morning.

In a release just after 8 a.m., the Strathcona County RCMP said they were responding to an incident and were asking residents to stay in their homes.

“Please refrain from posting photos of officers on social media until the incident is over,” the RCMP stated.

At 9:19, police issued an update saying the area was clear and the matter was resolved.

RCMP provided an update on Monday (Mar. 13) that said police were responding to reports of a suspected armed break-and-enter at a residence.

Upon further investigation, the RCMP says they were unable to confirm the accuracy of the initial report.

Police do not believe there is any threat to public safety at this time.
