The Fort Saskatchewan Junior B Hawks will head into playoffs on a three game losing streak.
Friday night (Feb.7) at the JRC, the Edmonton Royals downed the Hawks 10-3 in their season finale.
Landon Lavallee led the way for Fort Saskatchewan on offence with three points. Goaltender Marco Fontes made 39 saves in the loss.
In the special teams battle, the Hawks couldn't generate much offence when gifted powerplays by the Royals.
"We kind of struggled at the start of the season with it too. We found it for a bit there in the middle and then lost it again at the end, so we have to get back to where we were at," said captain Bailey Whelan.
The Hawks finished the regular season with a record of 16-15-7, good for fourth in the East Division.
In the first round of playoffs, Fort Saskatchewan will face the Sherwood Park Knights in a best-of-three series.
"We have to put the past couple of weeks in the rear view mirror, buckle down, take care of ourselves this week and be ready to play," added Whelan.
Dates and times for that series are still to be determined.
