Spring cleaning is in full swing in Fort Saskatchewan.

On Monday (May 2), the City of Fort Saskatchewan will pick up green carts weekly instead of every two weeks.

Because of the warmer weather, green bins begin to smell quicker. They also fill faster in the summer months with grass clippings and other yard waste.

Green carts will move back to a bi-weekly schedule in the first week of November.

Additionally, spring yard waste collection will begin the same day. Residents will be able to put out an unlimited amount of yard waste (leaves, small twigs/branches, fallen tree fruit, garden trimmings) on their collection day by 7 a.m. until Friday.

Waste must be placed in paper bags and cannot exceed 50 pounds. The city will not accept plastic or biodegradable bags.

More information on green carts and the city’s special collection events can be found here.
