Gibbons and Bon Accord have lots to offer kids in town this summer.

The towns have teamed up to offer several free and registered programs for kids to enjoy.
Everything from Theme Days at the Bon Accord Arena and Gibbons Youth Centre to field trips to Fort Edmonton Park or the Telus World of Science is being offered. A voyaging van full of toys, outdoor games and sports equipment will travel to local parks in the area on Mondays and Fridays.
"I know last summer, [staff] were challenged in a way where they had to organize town-wide activities for people to do on their own and be very creative with online programming," said Eric Paterson, community and youth coordinator for the town of Gibbons. "We have some returning staff and some new staff; it's nice for them to actually be able to interact with the kids and get a feel of normalcy."
For theme days, kids will have a chance to colour, make crafts or play games based on the day's theme. The 'Among Us' theme day saw the Gibbons Youth Centre turned into a maze for children to play in based on the popular video game.
Field trips range in price from $16 for a trip to the Woodland Spray Park to $44 for kids to enjoy a day trip at the Telus World of Science. There are pickup and drop-off locations in both towns.
Any kids or parents interested in theme days, or the field trip program, can register online here. For updates on summer activities, visit the Gibbons Summer Programs page on Facebook.
