The Shell Theatre has undergone a bit of a facelift.

This winter, staff have been busy with renovations as the theatre is undergoing some lifecycle upgrades. The theatre built a brand-new stage last year and replaced the carpet a year prior.

According to Josh Gennings, Shell Theatre supervisor, this latest upgrade round has focused on new seats and repainting the venue.

“It looks like a whole new space with some new colour schemes applied; it’s a really nice update to the space for sure,” he described.

The total cost for the upgrades will come in at just over $200,000.

Renovations began at the end of December, and Gennings says they’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back into the fresh space just in time for their next show with the Bouey-Doucet Duo on Jan.23.

The Shell Theatre operates under the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP), and masks are still required for everyone in the building.
